Check to see if your children's school is reopening after the COVID-19 shutdown. If so, plan a welcome home party for the first day. Put together a loot bag (cool school supplies are okay) to give out on the way to school with a note inviting them to your after-school party. It can be as simple as a stop by the ice cream shop. They will look forward to it all day long.

We're talking about electricity. Your power system has been under stress over the summer, and now's a good time to ensure it's still in working order. Trip your GFCI outlets (near water sources) by pressing the button (usually white). If you are in an older home and don't have GFCI outlets, an electrician can add them to your home. Ask for an estimate to make sure you get good value from your money.

From your showerhead! Showers rather than baths at this time of year help conserve water in the waning days of summer's heat. The more you save, the more there is to go around. You will also keep your waterbill more affordable.

Everyone seems to be going digital these days, including with our pictures. Show yours off with multiple fingers on your trackpad. Different operating systems will give different results, but try two fingers at a time, then three, and yes, even four. Spread them out, pull them together, or even move them side-to-side. Play and have fun!

Take time for a big sweep. Old bicycle tires. Broken pool toys. That oil can from the lawnmower . . . all need to go out. Find a place to recycle or reuse. When the first cold days hit (seems impossible, but it's coming) you'll be glad you can park inside.
