Annual flowers like to bloom but spent flowers can sap the plant's strength. Deadhead old blooms to encourage additional growth. You may also extend their growing season. So, snip and enjoy more, more, more!
If water's not your thing, carry fruit, instead. You can even freeze sectioned oranges for a great, on-the-go snack!
August might be hotter, but no month offers more hours of sunlight than June. With moderate temperatures and plenty of sun, now is your time to establish your new plantings. Remember, they need hydration just as we do!
Speaking to plants, that is. Line the bottom of your pots with sponges (old ones work well) and fill with dirt. The sponges will soak up water and keep the soil moist (and prevent excess water from weeping out the drain hole). Happy plants and easier for you, too!
