Instead of sitting at the kitchen table to enjoy your favorite morning beverage, use a thermos and light up the sidewalk. Exercise is a natural anti-depressant. You'll feel better when you're done, so get out the door now!

January is no time to slouch off on gardening. You can sow indoors or in a greenhouse all these: celery, celeriac, broad beans, salad leaves, spinach, spring onions, or turnips. Sturdy, clear plastic drink cups make a good "mini-greenhouse." Use one for the soil and a slightly smaller size upside down for the greenhouse roof. Happy salad time!

Scent can lift your mood. It can also trigger positive emotions and memories. Find a scent you especially enjoy (floral, herbal, or something that reminds you of a favorite person) and infuse an item in your house with it. Then, when you are down, bring it close and inhale. Mood lifted!
