Make it an August project to read a full book or magazine. Yes, cover to cover. Fiction, historical, technical ... even a Reader's Digest works. You will pick up new ideas and words along the way and become a better you!

Too much summer heat can become tiresome, but it's coming to an end. Uncover that picnic basket and head to the park to enjoy the weather before it's gone. Pack a frisbee or a Nerf football to create a great opportunity to burn off tween energy.

That sounds odd, but with school restarting, that can be the best way to get the family back on track. It really means to get back to things like regular meals and a standardized bedtime. When the school bus arrives on the first day of class, your kiddos will be prepped and good-to-go!

The longer hours of summer tend to steal our sleep. Now is the time to aim for eight hours, or Eight-in-a-Block. The easy way to do this is to turn off the TV sooner, hide your phone in a drawer, and turn the lights down low. Happy dreams!

Today, social media keeps us connected remotely, but kiddos often need face-to-face friendships. Playdates (for younger children), invitations to friends for family outings (for tweens), or even volunteering (older teens) can keep social connections strong through the rest of the summer months. Stay connected and enjoy those around you!
