October is Candy Month to many school children. Halloween! Trick-or-treat! Gimme, gimme more, please! Here's your chance to sideline the pounds all that candy can add to your waistline. Make a plan now to dispose of your extra candy in a responsible manner (as in donate it to a city organization that accepts candy). Call your city to see what's available to you.

You might be tempted to follow your pet to the exam room to reassure them during a visit to the pet doctor. Your anxiety can cause your pet to be nervous, too. Ask your vet what they prefer and follow their recommendation! Happy pet visit for everyone!

Fall is a great time to winterize summer tools. Even that lawnmower! If you remove a bolt that's rusty, drop it in vinegar for a day. Scrub and rinse, then into a bowl of oil before reattaching it. Good as new!

Check with your city or state park system. Do they need a volunteer? Likely they could use some help to attach trail signs, scrub park benches, or other minor chores. Get your kids involved, even if it is picking up litter! Then have a picnic afterward! Good day for everyone!

Big projects can overwhelm us. Break them into smaller tasks. Don't "do" the fridge, just the meat tray. Dust the house? The living room is enough for one day. See? Easier already! Do this regularly, and you'll keep on top of it all!
