When your kids leave home (financially as well as physically), refuse to offer advice or criticism. Keep your door open, but their choices become their responsibility.

When getting feedback on your performance (at work or at home), take a breath, swallow your pride, and listen. You might hear good advice that will improve your productivity.

Identify opportunities by writing them down. They may not all pan out, but none will if you don’t put them on paper.

When in a meeting, find your listening pose. Show you’re engaged, but don’t react. You’ll be prepared to listen without judgment and absorb what’s being said.
