Bathrooms and kitchen both! Check under your pipes for potential leaks. Do this weekly to catch drips early and prevent a major remodel!

The short winter days are perfect for finding things to do in the house. Even a self-defrosting fridge or freezer needs to be cleaned thoroughly once in a while. Empty the fridge and freezer (Set stuff outside if the temps are low enough!) and turn it off. Allow it to warm and defrost before scrubbing it down and restarting it. It will take about 24 hours to reach its optimal temperatures, but reloading your cold food will speed up the process.

Do you find yourself saying, "I can't believe I forgot to do that." Let your habits be your reminders. If you forget taking your morning medicine, link that action to your first cup of coffee. When you do one, you'll remember the other. It works with other things too. Collecting the mail can be your reminder to make the bed or sweep the kitchen. You can envision this, and that's step number one! You will be successful!

Now's the time to sort your winter wear. What's not appealing (or that you refused to unbox at the first cold snap)? If that winter jacket wasn't the first choice when you opened your storage closet, it needs to go to someone who can use it. Donate what you're not using, and keep others warm, too!

For additional January motivation, plan your spring holiday now. A trip to the islands. Backbacking in the mountains. Whatever interests you, now is the time to get the best prices for your perfect reservation. Ready, set, phone!!
