When writing out chores for your kiddos, choose simple words. Use instead of utilize. Near instead of proximity. Help instead of facilitate. (This works for your spouse, too, when giving directions for picking you up at the airport!) Use longer words only when they say something you can't get across any other way!

Not from the grocery store, silly! In the air! May is a good time to get outside and fly a kite. You need wind but not too much. Look for an open space (no power lines) and with a partner, let your kite fly! Here's a cute one from Walmart in the shape of a brightly colored butterfly.

For your yard, anyway. About a quarter inch of aged compost over your yard will boost your grass into a carpet of perfection! You will become the envy of your yard-loving neighbors!

With spring's longer days and warmer weather, search out local trolleys on the internet. It's worth scheduling the open-air pleasures of a trolley ride (the wind in your hair!) as someone else does the driving and lets you take in the sights! Likely, your trolley ride will amble through the historic part of town, so remember your camera when you go!

Leaves and twigs that have gathered over the winter can clog the growing cycle of many spring plants. Rakes, air blowers, even a shovel if necessary. A clean flowerbed will give your plants the opportunity to shine!
