Patterns in life are good for us, such as visiting the same beach house each August, a favorite dress or cup of coffee, or a scheduled chat with a good friend. Smaller activities that happen in the same way on a regular basis, whether it's exercise or a favorite song or movie, give us a sense of control over our chaotic lives. Make a plan today, then do it!

Only seeing the negative can become a habit. Call or text someone. Determine to only say or write positive things. You'll some make new habits that will change your way of thinking.

In stressful moments (whether at work or at home), accept how you feel but keep in mind the facts. Just because you are angry or upset doesn't mean the other person is completely wrong. Delay your response for an hour, look at the situation from their point of view, and you may see things differently.

That sounds odd, but trust me, it works! Lay out your clothes, make a list of the first few things you need to do, or organize your breakfast choices for the following morning. You'll get a jump on the day.

Accept that your success is your responsibility. The world's not entitled to give you anything. That way, when you have a successful day, you'll know you did it on your own. You'll learn to see yourself in a whole new light.
