Start assembling a group for the last day of the month's festivities. Trick-or-treating is a shared activity. Pair your children, wear team armbands, and insist they walk with an adult. Your night will be full of fun when you spend it together.

You've had your flu shot, but how about your high-risk neighbor who perhaps doesn't drive? Elderly people are especially susceptible to the flu and can't afford to miss their seasonal vaccination. Ask them if they would like a ride to the clinic, even if they have a car. They are more likely to say yes if you're doing the driving.
Take your small children on a trial run before the real event. Practice with a flashlight and walking (not running) on the sidewalk. Keep the light pointing down and make sure everyone keeps up. Your little ones will be ready for the night when it arrives!
Bulbs like to snuggle in a group over the winter. (Okay, bulbs don't care about suggling, but they should!) Put six-to-eight in a small space, and a dozen if you have the room. They will show off well when they come to life next spring. Don't forget to add mulch to keep them from drying out during sunny weather.
No touch, as in eyes and mouth, especially children. Germs will spread, but keeping them on the hands and not in the mouth (until your kids can wash up) will help your kiddos stay healthy through the season. This is good advice for Mom and Dad, too!
