You may never have heard of this edible root, but this January, give it a try in salads, casseroles, and more! You can even use it to flavor up your morning coffee! You may be familiar with chicory greens by the names of endive, escarole, and radicchio. Look for crisp, green leaves that are uniform in color. If you see new growth, give it a pass. It's past its prime. Experiment and enjoy the flavor!

Social events don't stop with the new year! When you receive an invite, ask what you can bring. Food, a board game, or a favorite song (CDs, are they even still a thing?). If you play a hand-held instrument, ask if it's appropriate. If it is, you'll arrive with fun in your hand!

If you've ever opened a greeting card and smiled at the endearment inside, you know they make others feel the same. For those special occasions, visit a good card shop, buy 2-3 from each of multiple categories, and file them in a holder on your desk. Put USPS Forever stamps on the envelopes. When someone's birthday or anniversary comes to mind (or comes up in conversation), pull the correct card from your stash and fill it out. Easy-smeasy, job done!

Who are we kidding? Special stationary always makes for a more enjoyable note to someone. Choose something funny or fancy, online or from a shop ... you'll feel better (and so will your reader!) when you send your thoughts on fancy paper! Scribble away 'cause you've got lots to say!

We've heard the benefits of using baking soda to clean around the house, and we've all dumped in half a box when we only needed a fraction of that. Get a set of inexpensive salt shakers (the sort with the large holes in the lid) and fill it with baking soda. You can simply shake out what you need! The journey to clean begins today!
