The month of May can be stressful with the end of the school year and uncertain summer plans. How you react to unexpected changes will affect how your kiddos will respond. Go easy on yourself, be spontaneous, and your children will stress less. You'll all get along better.

Summer trips are daily events. With the kids in tow, put your eye on every seat belt before you start the car. Make it a ritual. You can double-check by calling each child's name and having them reply, "Seat belt locked."

Before the summer heat invades your attic, get up there with a yardstick and check the depth of your insulation. If it's less than twelve inches, maybe it's time to add insulation. You can even do it yourself by renting a blower machine and save yourself several hundred dollars. Get this done while it's cool! You'll be glad you did.

With the cooler weather, it's easy to forget to lock windows after letting the breeze in. Double-check windows and doors (especially sliders) each night and before you go out. Don't forget your garage door, and NEVER LEAVE THE KEYS UNDER A MAT. It's the first place a devious stranger will look!

You don't want your kiddies rolling their rides on flat tires. Now's the time to check tire pressure on their bicycles. Raise the seats if your tykes have gotten taller over the winter. Your first trip to ride in the park will be a resounding success!
