Your grass needs a winter blanket, too. Of course, where you live makes a difference, but for yards that go completely brown (dormant) over winter, try a slow-release organic fertilizer. Not too much, and not too little. As the fairy tale says, enough to make your grass's winter blanket "just right." Check with your local garden store for their recommendation.
